British Polythene Industries (BPI) plc has once again received recognition for the strength of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policies from the award winning global index provider, FTSE Group.  For the 11th consecutive year the business, which ranks not only as Europe’s largest recycler of waste polythene products but also as a global supplier of high performance polyethylene films, has been awarded a Certificate of Inclusion for the prestigious FTSE4Good Index Series.

Launched in 2001 the FTSE4Good Index measures the performance of companies against globally recognised corporate responsibility standards. Its transparent management and criteria aim to help investors indentify the companies that operate with a strong commitment to the highest levels of environmental and social integrity.

The FTSE4Good Index Series assesses companies against stringent and internationally recognised standards in key CSR areas, including environmental sustainability (climate change and environmental management), social (upholding and supporting universal human and labour rights and supply chain labour standards), and governance (including countering bribery).

Speaking of BPI’s continued certification, John Langlands, CEO, British Polythene Industries said:  “We are delighted to have received the FTSE4Good Certificate of Inclusion for the 11th year running.” He continues: “This certification demonstrates that it is possible to deliver innovative, value-added products whilst operating in a sustainable and socially responsible manner.  It also serves as reassurance to our customers and to suppliers that they are working with a principled organisation.”
